  1. Ennistymon means "the Island of white house" or "the Island of the long meadow"
    It is in the parish of Killmanaheen. There is a ford near the railway crossing Ennistymon: the Inagh then flows into the sea near Lahinch. There are about 52 houses in Main St, Ennistymon and about 20 or 30 in Parliament St. They are all slated houses. There are about 20 people over 70 years of age and thy can all tell stories, some in Irish and others in English
