- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)The scholars had "Carpenters Spelling Books" and a grammar known as the "Aeneil".
They used have slates for writing on with pointed stones. After a while they got jotters and they used write on them with quill pens. They used make their own ink from the juice of elderberries.
The scholars used sit on bogdeal stumps fixed near the wall. The master used sit on a three legged stool out in front of the class.
The people had great respect for these teachers and they were always glad to give them food and lodging.
