It was usually the custom that after a cow calved the milk was kept for two days and put into a big pot to boil and a handful of salt put in also. It was left on for an hour and then taken off. When finished it was called beselms. Then all the neighbours got the first jug full and in turn they put a handfull of salt in the jug for good luck. Then all the household got their share in a noggin.
