- My Greatgrandfather told a story of a women who spoiled butter.
He saw her, "the cailleach witch" she was called, walking about and making strange signs over his head of cattle. He paid no heed then, but when he was milking the cows that night they only gave blood and water. The next day when tthey were churning no butter came and the milk smelled badly.
The people got the parish priest to come and say mass in their house. He did so, and blessed the pantry, the dairy and the herd.
The people said she had power from the devil.
