- In Baile na Croise there lived people of the name Mathews. They made all kinds of basket work they got the sally rods in County Meath. When they had them made they used to sell them at the fairs all through the country and they sold some of them to merchants in England. There were all people of the name of nuxel green and they made all kinds of brushes and beesoms. They sold them to the people around, and sold them also at the great big fairs that used to be in Mullocrew. There was a man called Tom Boylan and he made nails, he used to sell them in the towns and villages. There was a man, Philip Murray was his name, and he made all kinds of tin ware. He used to sell some of the articals at home and some in the towns, Patrick Kelly was a cooper he made churns barrrels and tubs and he used to sell them at Dundalk markets and at Carrick markets.
