- There are four forges in the parish. The smiths are, Tom Kerr, and his son Tom Kerr, the smiths, in the other forges are, John King, Tom Murtagh, and Tom O'Grady. Their people have been smiths for over sixty years.
Mr. Kerr's forge is situated in the part of the parish near the school. Mr. King's forge is situated near Manfieldstown Cross, and the others are on the public road.
The forge is one storey building; it has one chimney; there is a window near the chimney; two doors, one fire place, one anvil, one bellows, and one drill for drilling holes.
There of the forges are slated, and the other has a galvanised iron roof.
The doors are ordinary, made of wood, and on Mr Kerr's forge one door opens in two halves.
There is one fire place in each forge.
The bellows are built in the wall; it is made of wood, and leather. There is a spout on it also, and a handle.
