When I was a young boy I used to go out to my Uncle's to drive the horses when he would be reaping the corn I remember one day when the tea was brought out to us I stopped the horses accidentally facing the North and my Uncle was going to murder me for doing so and took the reins from me and turned the horses round facing the south but he would give me no reason for doing so.
There is a curious custom still observed in our house. Take a slice of the loaf of bread on Xmas morning and keep it until the eve of "Lá Féile Bríghid" when it would be eaten.
Another custom was to light twelve candles on the eve of the Twelfth Night but it was done away with long since.
