  1. In the penal times when the Catholics were persecuted for their Faith their lived a cruel man in Drogheda. He was a member of the Drogheda Corporation. Every day he used to go down to a place called the Tholsel and it was his delight to look at the heads of the Catholics who were beheaded hanging from spikes. One day as usual he came down to the Tholsel and looked up to see how many heads were there. His head remained in the air and he was never able to bend it again.
