one exploded in the gun and the effect of the explosion caused part of the gun itself to explode and poor Furlong fell mortally wounded. He was rushed to Mr Mc Gees resedence and attended to by Dr Grogan of Maynooth and Nurse Gallagher. The Mater Hospital was rung up and an ambulance arrived there in record time. The wounded man was placed in it and brought to hospital but the medical and surgeons aid he could get was off no avail and he died in a few hours after admission.
