- I heard a story from a man about a cross that bowed to a battalion of soldiers who were marching along the road at Dunsany.
As the soldiers were marching past the cross in four deep it bowed to a certain four. The Officer in charge having a feeling that something mysterious was wrong, brought back the army and marched them past in two deep. The cross bowed to a certain two.
Then the Officer marched them in single file and the cross bowed to one particular man. The Officer questioned the man to his previous career.
The soldier said: He had been in a College preparing to be a priest, when he had a quarrel with the head priest, he left the College and joined the Army.
Then the Officer made a subscription among the other soldiers and sent the soldier back to College to study to become a priest.- Faisnéiseoir
