    It was upstairs and each night retiring they used to be locked in. When they were settled as was supposed in the room for the night the Tailuir Ruad told his comrades what he was wishful to do so they tied the sheets of the bed together and having got through the window he descended by this improvised ladder, he set out barefooted by paths well-known to him and arrived at his destination in a remarkably short time considering the distance he had to travel and having made out his friends he delivered his message to them and started at once to his return journey, as he was making for the road across a field in Bawnbreaky he heard the tramp of the trooper's horses at the cross of Cormeen on their way for the raid, so he managed to hide behind a high wall until they passed. He got home again without detection, and when the door unlocked at the usual hour in the morning he turned out of bed along with his comrade and no one could say he ever left his room during the night.
