- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)woman her mistake. He asked her if she had got any of the soup left in the pot after the brewing of the tea. She told him that she had but she did not think it as good as the other part. He said he would prefer it and asked her to bring him a mugful of the soup and so he got his tea.
The woman wondered at his choice but did not grumble. When she presented it to him finally he took something out of his pocket and put it into the tea. (Sugar was not then in general use as a sweetening agent.) This we suppose was something to sweeten it and when he made it drinnkable by adding cream to it the poor woman had learned her first lesson in tea-making.
