  1. A Fairy Fort
Told by John Balfe age 47 years Ballinacree, Oldcastle, Co. Meath.
There is a haunted fort in Mrs Smyths' field Ballinacree. It is on a hill with bushes in a circle round it in the shape of a hat. At night a light is seen and sometimes sweet music is heard. There is an old church nearby where the old people used to go to mass long ago.
At twelve o'clock at night a ball of fire leaves the old church and drops in the fort. People who go in at twelve lose their way and have to stay there till near daylight.
