- Burning of Lime
Lime stones are put into a kiln and burned in a fire made of turf and colm.
A layer of turf and colm is put down first, and then a layer of stones, and so on.
The turf on the bottom is lit first, and then it keeps burning, and lights the colm and burns the lime stone. It is left burning for four days and four nights.
A man has to stay up at night to keep it stirred now and again.- Bailitheoir
