- The wild birds commonly found in
my district are the following i-
Blackbird, Robin, Wren, Crow, Magpie,
and swallow.
The swallows migrate. The blackbird
builds its nest in a hedge, the
robin in a grassy bank or trunk
of an old tree, the wren in a
hedge, the thrush also in a hedge,
the crow and magpie on a high
tree, and the swallows in the
caves of houses.
the blackbird and thrush build nests
alike, made of mud, hay, and
feathers.
The robin and wren choose moss,
hay, wool, and feathers.
the crow and magpie build their
nests of sticks and hay.
The birds sit four weeks on
the eggs.
Boys are warned that if they
interfere with the nests of birds,
they will be punished severely.
Weather can be judged by the
behaviour of certain birds,(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
