- Hurling and football are our national games and hurling has been played in Ireland since the days of Cuchulainn.In olden times the people of this district used to play a game called "Sidy." Every Sunday the young men used to collect in the field opposite Nolan's which is owned by a man named Lynam, to play 'sidy.' Sidy was played in the same way as hurling but the sticks were cut in the wood and they had crooks on the ends of them.
