a great rain-storm and there were great floods. In the city some houses were swept away. The farmers could not get into the bogs to cut the turf. The water was all over the roads and the fields.
During the Big Storm years ago the roof of a house in which a man named Mr. Molphy of Carne and his family lived was lifted off and carried a good distance away. The roof of his stables and a lot of hay and oats that were in his haggard were also blown away. People thought it very strange next morning to see everything that was blown away was back again in the same place. None of the family was hurt and nothing in the house was broken. There was also a row of poplar trees blown down on each other.
On the 14th February 1903 there was a big storm. There were roofs taken off houses and other places and trees were up-rooted and all the roads were blocked.
