- The most harmful weeds growing on our farm at home are nettles, thistles, dandelions. purple-clover, meadow-sweet, dock leaves, robin-run-the-hedge, running-ivy, rag-weed and Bloodweed. Nettles are used as food for young turkeys. They are also used boiled as a vegetable, and eaten to cure rheumatism.
Thistles grow on meadow land and they are very plentiful in this district. The wind scatters the seed, and it spreads rapidly.
The milk of the dandelion is a cure for warts, and it is also a cure for kidney trouble. The dandelion can be found in bloom during a great parts of the year, especially in Spring. It has a yellow flower(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
