- There are five forges in the parish of Castletown-Geoghegan. The blacksmiths are Peter Seery, and Michael Richard, Ballinagore, John Keegan, Killard, Michael Connell, Adamstown and Gerard Keenan, Castletown-Geoghegan.
These people have been blacksmiths for many years. The forges are all near crossroads. They are built with stones. Some of them are covered with slates and others with felt. The implements used are hammers, rasps, vices, sledges, anvils, wrenches, chissils and bellows. There are wooden doors on the forges, and there is one fire-place in each forge.
The bellows is made of leather and there is a long handle on it. It is set beside the fire-place and when the fire is dead, the bellows is moved upwards and downwards by the handle.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
