In the townland of Dunlum about a mile and a half north of the village of Mt Temple there is an old ash tree. It is about a perch from the main road between Mt Temple and Ballymore.
I am told that a ghost used to stand under this tree at half one ever night. He was dressed in white and appeared to have horns. He used to stay under this tree for two hours and then disappear.
It was believed that anyone who passed along the road had to stand on the road and could not pass by until the ghost would disappear. It was also said that if a great number looked on the ghost together they would over-come him and he would be never seen again.
