Ar an leathanach seo

  1. We churn once every week on a Wednesday. It takes about one hour to churn. We set the milk in a crock in which we strain some every night and morning until the crock is full.
    The churn is made of wood. It sits on a metal frame and has a handle which you push over and back attached to the axle. This causes the churn to turn over. It is worked on ball-bearings. There is a pipe near the bottom and a plug for letting out the butter-milk. In the lid there is a glass. This glass shows how the milk is doing, when churned the glass is quite clear.
    When we are preparing to churn the first thing we do is to rinse the churn well with hot water then spill in the milk and put two saucepans of hot water as well. When the milk is churned we take out the plug and let off the butter-milk. Then we gather the butter into a lump and mix it about four times to rinse the milk off the butter. When rinsed we get the salt and
