  1. We have a churn at home. It is two feet high and one and a half feet broad at the top. And two feet at the bottom. The parts of the churn are, the dash the lid and the goggler. There is a piece cut out of the chime and out of the lid of the churn. The lid is put to this mark every time the churning is doing.
    In our house the churning is done twice in the Summer and once in the Winter. We all take a turn at the churning in our house. The churn and dash are usually put outside a day or so before the churning to air. The day of the churning the churn and dash are brought in and scalded. My Mother scrubs the churn with a scrub which is made out of heather. When she puts the boiling into the churn she scrubs it as hard as she is able for ten or fifteen minutes. She then empties the "renchen's" into a bucket and throws it out in the yard. She then takes
