- The people used to have only two meals a day in the olden times the breakfast and the dinner. They used to eat oaten porridge and oaten bread for their breakfast and potatoes, salt, and butter-milk for their dinner. The breakfast was eaten at almost eleven oclock and the dinner at about three. At that time the people would have as much work done before breakfast time as the people would have (as much work done bf) done now-a-days before dinner time. There was a man in this district whose name was William Skelly and he was able to eat four oaten cakes and a two gallon pot of porridge in a day. After the porridge there was a pan of goats meat fried, and the oaten bread was dipped in the grease.
The oaten bread was made in this way. First a couple of pounds of meal(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
