- (continued from previous page)What a difference there is between the churning of today and of long ago! Long ago the people had peculiar habits about churning. They say that when a person comes into a house where churning is going on that he should take a brash (that is he should do a little churning). Another old saying is that if some woman has no butter she should go to a house where they are churning and cut a piece of the clothes of some one who is churning and bring it home and burn it under her own churn. Then she would not be able to turn the handle because the churn would be full of butter. Then the people that she took it from would have no butter so they would go to that house and take a cup of water and bring(continues on next page)
