The following facts and details were given me, some by canon Justice and some by Mrs John Boyers...

    (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)
Catholics only were interred there. Until comparatively recently it was a burial ground for individuals of either persuasion. There are several old tombs, and an interesting one is that of a Cromwellian soldier. The most ancient graveyard near here is that of Templemichael Abbey and the next Ballymacormack. Unfortunately the description of the latter does not come within the scope of this "Local History"and will probably reach the Folklore Authorities from some other school nearer the place. In case that it does not, however I would request readers of this narrative to let me know as I have many interesting things to tell of that District.
The other details about Longford Urban area will be found under essays contributed by my children.
