“A man who lived at Portumna led a very bad life.”
A man who lived at Portumna led a very bad life. For twenty years he never received the Sacraments. One night a lorry load of men was returning from a foot ball match in Ballinasloe about midnight.
This man was among them. All at once they missed him and heard cries. They turned back thinking he may have fallen off but the horses refused to go near the spot where he was lying.
He was twisting as if in great pain and shouting "Save me! save me!" After a while the horses quietened down and the men went to the spot and lifted him up.
He was all black and bruised and told them that in visible hands lifted him out of the car and beat him and voices called on him to make his peace with God. He(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
