- John Reynolds, a small farmer from Granard district, was frequently to be seen at the fairs at Edgeworthstown.
He had sold pigs at this particular fair and was returning home standing in his cart. Abut a mile from his house on the side of the road stood a lone bush - bare and ghost like in the dusk of the winter evening.
Directly opposite the "lone bush" he, it is surmised, fell headforemost from the cart and his lifeless corpse was found on the roadside by a neighbour who was passing that way.
A cement monument surmounted by a large cross now marks the spot where he was found.
His cross is to be seen on the right hand side of the Bunlahy road leading to Granard.- Faisnéiseoir
