  1. When the men from Ballyhogue were going to the battle of New Ross, a boy of fourteen years was going with them. But the captain named Matt Sinnott put the boy home. When the boy was going home he was met by an army of English Soldiers.
    When the soldiers came up, they asked him if he saw the Irish Soldiers going along the way. But he refused to answer them. They said they would kill him but he would not answer them. So they put him into a barrel of tar. They lit a bon-fire and put the barrel of tar in the middle and left him there to die.
