- About a century ago there lived a man in Shanoule named Paddy Malaya. He was the strongest man in the neighbourhood, and one day as he was going to his work he found that his horse was lame and could not travel. He had to bring a plough and a roller home from the field. At last he thought of a plan and walking to the field he got the roller on his shoulder and was going around looking for the plough. One of the swiftest runners in the district long ago was Stephen Donnelly of Cullenstown.
- Some fields have strange names such as Penders Garden :-
this field got its name because of a ditch of apple trees and plum trees which were supposed to be owned by Pender's. The Bridge field is the name of a field near the bridge of Cullenstown.
The Beech hedge is two fields separated by a hedge of beech trees.
The Whitehouse field got its name because of a gentleman(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
