   What they could do in Wexford Park and hold their victory
   Against that powerful Starlight team who had gained such high renown
   And swore they'd bring the honours back to Enniscorthy town

   For weeks before the day came on the townsmen thought it right
   To decorate and dress the town to honour their Starlights
   They had tar barrels waiting to illuminate the town
   The moment that they heard the news of Ballyhogue going down

   But to their grief and great surprise they found t'was the other way
   They were not able to play the 'Hogue's in Wexford Park that day
   The thousands there did all declare the 'Hogues were better men
   They played their game so manly and pulled down the Stars again
