- Birds are very plentiful in our district. The wild birds to be found are - blackbirds, crows, water-wagtails, seagulls, larks, robins, wrens, swallows, thrushes and the cuckoo. Some of these birds migrate. They go to foreign countries for the long dreary winter and come back again for the months of summer, but the robin, the wren, the blackbird and the thrush stay with us the whole year round. Tradition tells us that the robin picked a thorn out of Our Lord's head and whilst doing so, a drop of blood fell on its breast, and every robin, now has a red breast.
Birds make a nest of their own, lay their eggs in it and hatch out their young ones. The crow builds its nest in a tree.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
