   In these times the children had no copies to write on. They had to write on slates. They were taught by the roadside and the children used to sit on the ditch until twelve o'clock and then the teacher would let them go and play down the the fields and then he would eat his own dinner.
   Some of the games the children played was kicking straw footballs tug-o-war and many other games. Then they would go back about two o'clock, and then they would go home at 3 o'clock in the evening.
   There was also a hedge-school in Cametigue. There was a man named Laurence Regan teaching in it. There was a great crown of children attending it. This man also taught Mr. Curran's. Afterwards this man went to England.
   There was another school up in Rossard. There was a woman named Annie Kearns teaching in it. She lived in Ballycrystal.
