    like a poultice was a favourite cure.
    Measles: Long ago sheep.saffron was always given to children to put out the measles on them. The sheep-saffron was made by putting a little sheep-dung in a rag and dipping in hot milk and squeezing into the milk.
    Later bought saffron was used but was considered not as good as the old remedy.
    Cuts and Wounds:
    1. Leaves of Ribwort or Plantain chewed and applied to the cut.
    2. A cobweb wound round the cut was often used.
    3. Leaves of St. John's Wort crushed were also applied to cuts and wounds. This plant was supposed to bloom on St. John's Day and was said to have magical powers in keeping away evil spirits.
    Sore eyes: A lotion made from the leaves of Eyebright steeped in boiling water was always used in olden times. The purple flower of the Eyebright has a peculiar resemblance to the human eye.
