- On Ballycowen castle.
Ballycowan castle was built by Sir Gasper Herbet and Dame Mary Finglas in the year 1626. There are six chimneys on the castle. There are holes in the w in window sills for iron bars to go across the windows. The walls of the castle are about six feet thick. There are beautiful fire places of cut stone in the castle. There is a coat of arms over the door of the castle and there are words on it saying by God of might I hold my right. There is a tunnel from Ballycowan castle to Ballyhilmurry castle underground. Ballycowan castle was knocked down with a cannon ball which was fired from Glashil hill by Cromwells Soldiers. Over the coat(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
