He wandered about for a while, but could not find the donkey. He heard a far away cry like a woman caoining, and as he came near he saw by the moon-light a woman sitting on the side of the hill. She was combing her hair which lay down her back. He stole up beside her, and while she was gazing out towards the lake he snapped up her comb and ran away as fast as he could. He was afraid to stop any longer looking for the donkey, so he went home and locked the door and sat down by the fire. Almost immediately he heard a strange noise outside and looking through the window he saw the Bean Sidhe, standing by the rick of turf at the end of the house crying. She walked round about as if looking for something(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
