The old people had also another wooden vessel like a dish. They used it just as we use dishes now. Some of these dishes are still to be seen but they are only used for making butter. Butter was made in a churn with a dash long ago. These churns were made by a man called a cooper. The churn had a lid with a hole in the middle to let the handle of the dash out through. Then there was a small wooden cap put on over the handle of the dash and over the lid. This vessel keeps the milk from splashing out. It is called a dabler or a jogler. Bread or cakes are made on a flat board with a raised edge(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
