- A treasure is supposed to be hidden in Conach Foichre. It is said to be a crock of gold.
It was placed there by an English man. Attempts were made to get it but a stone would stop the searchers every time they tried. A dog is supposed to be guarding it. A little tent is seen there every night. A dog is seen lying at the tent. Any one who tried to dig up the treasure, could not pass by it after 9 o'clock at night or he would be killed,
There was a soldier going on leave from Dublin to Athlone. he had to walk it, as he was very poor, and was not able to pay for a train, his wages were only 4d a day. He went into Ballycumber for lodging and he had to pay 2d to stay.
There was a cradle in the house and the soldier thought the baby in it was very cross.
He looked into the cradle and saw that it was a very old man.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
