Carraig na grow in the time of the famine. It is said that the people died on the stones when making this road. Long ago dances were held at the cross-roads. The music was supplied with the flutes made out of the ‘Country” branch. As well as dances being held here, they were also known as the ‘centres of story telling’. The men used to gather there and tell stories and have a chat on ‘the times’
