- There are not many relics of Penal Days in this district. There are a few "Mass Paths" but these were mostly nearways to the Old Chapel in Antiduff. The old custom of occasional Mass in the houses or stations still prevails in the locality. There is one story from Lisnacark.
In Penal times a Cavan priest was being pursued by the Cavan militia. He sought shelter at the house of a Catholic named Tully in Lisnacark. Tully was afraid to shelter him so he went to the next house owned by a Protestant named Mc Collum. The priest tottered up to the barn where the farmer and his men were threshing.
