Ar an leathanach seo

  1. Bread was made form wheat which was grown locally. The wheat was dried and then ground with grinding stones into flour. It was very coarse, not like the flour we buy now. It was of a dark brown colour. Bread was also made from Oatmeal made from the Oats which was dried shilled and ground it was courser than the wheaten flour.
    There were different kinds of bread made such as Boxty Bread which was made from potatoes grated on a grater made out of tin. The potatoes when grated were put into a cloth and the water squeezed out of them the not was mixed with a little milk and a pinch of salt and a little flour to thicken it and the baked on the frying pan over the fire. Baked on one side and then turned. Potatoe cake was made from
