- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)boiled potatoes which were mixed with flour also a little salt and baked the same as Boxty bread.
Oaten-cake was made from oaten meal which was made into dough with boiling water also a little sugar and salt. It was left a little while to stiffen then it was made round and about one inch thick and then put against an Iron bread stand in front of the fire down on the hearth. Some times there was a supply made to do a few days but very often Boxty bread was only made as it was used.
If the husband and Wife were out working in the fields together, the woman would bring home a few large potatoes and make the Boxty Bread, and have it when the man would come, very often it would be milk the would take as they could not afford to buy tea and sugar.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
