Then they'd throw out the tea and eat the tea-leaves.
On rare occasions they would make an "archie's head." This they made by mixing potatoes, flour and salt. Then they put the mixture on the clean warm hearthstone, under a pot. On the pot they'd put "graosac" and leave all there till cooked. Then they'd eat it at dinner.
This was also called "Roger head."
Nettles were boiled and eaten as vegetable- a healthy vegetable it was.
Boxty was a favourite kind of bread.
In many places, even in present years, the potatoes were peeled with nails.
