  1. Old Houses
    In Ireland long ago there were many kinds of houses which served as shelter for the people.
    The first was a primitive kind of house supported by strong sticks, made of woven sallies carried up to the top where was a small home which served as a chimney, with an open space left of the door. The fire was in the middle of the house because it would not be safe to it near the wicker work wall and it was all the one room.
    The next sort of house that came out was the mud-wall-cabin with the arch coming down
