The old people say that you should not go to a well for water after sun - set in case you would be drowned. On the first day of May every year they put a piece of blessed palm over the door of the cow byre to bring luck to the cow. On the second of February every year the people of the country get two sticks and cross them and put straw around them until the sticks are covered and then hang them over the doors of their houses to honour Saint Brigid.
