- The people used to believe it was unlucky to get married in the month of May. They had a saying "Marry in May and you'll rue the day." The people. The people used to get married on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and sometimes on Sundays.
People usually got married from New Year till Ash Wednesday Most of the marriages were before Advent.
