He kelled his lawful married wife, all in her youth and bloom,
    Likewise his children and mother-in-law
    The four possessed one tomb.
He left a place called Ennis Keen,
    On Saturday afternoon,
Bound for the town of Carrickmacross,
    That place he entered soon,
The villian took his lodging there,
But no one knew his plans.
When he left on Sunday evening
With a tin box in his hand.
To a lovely house in Kolagh [?]
Where the victims there did dwell.
He contrived the murder in his heart,
He feared not heaven or hell.
    The devil was his master,
And it is him he did obey.
When he stole in through the window
    And took their lives away.
    Those creatures, they were sleeping
    Upon the earthen floor,
He grasped a spade with arm strong
    That stood behind the door
He gave to them some dreadful blows
