  1. Many of the old crafts and craftsmen are not to be found now. They used to make candles by gathering bulrushes which grow by the side of a lake or in a marshy place.
Then they soaked them in resin and then they would light them and these would serve as candles. They used to make polish too and this is how they used to make it. First they bought a bar of stuff. This they used to put on a tin plate and they used to pour water on it and mix it up and they used it as polish.
Long ago the people used to have a big long candlestick made of iron. When the old women would be spinning wool they left the candlestick on the floor beside them and leave a candle in it an it would be high enough to show them light.
They used to make baskets of light sally rods. They would leave the sally rods to season then they would weave the rods in and out between others and make more baskets.
