    Killann was a spot of much historic note in the closing years of the 16th century. The strange thing is that the old natives of Killann still possess a clear knowledge of this eventful period and for centuries following .
    In 1580 Killann was thickly wooded, and was well fortified by the Irish. Tradition says the English troops had greater difficulty in gaining a footing here than in any other part of Breefney.
    There is a lovely prospect of its sunny valleys and verdant hills, from the old chapel brae, while the dim blue of Breffney's famous mountains can be traced far beyond. Killann sits among pleasant pasture, lands, charming stretches of bog, and purple hills. The situation of the vanished castle of Killann is indeed pleasing. From Killann the tourist can manage to get a birds eye of the most historic parts of ancient
