After some weeks the potatoes are moulded. If they are in ridges they are moulded with a shovel. If they are in drills they are moulded by two horses and a drill plough.
During the summer months the potatoes are sprayed by means of a sprayer to prevent the blight from killing them.
In the autumn the potatoes are dug either by spade or by two horses and a machine called a potato digger. They are then put in pits in the field or drawn home and stored in a barn for food.
