- (continued from previous page)against the Catholic's were some what relaxed, the people of Ardcroney were given permission to build a chapel on condition that it could not be seen from the public road. It was a barn like structure with clay floor and thatched roof, it served as a place of worship until it was unroofed by the "big wind" in 1839. The following year there was a chapel built.
